Work package 05

Timber-frame panels and cut lists

A timber-frame house is a list of pieces. We generate it from the architectural plan: every stud, plate, header, cripple and noggin with its length and cut angle, every sheet of sheathing, every fixing, per panel and per house, together with the panel drawings the production line reads. Calibrated to your system, whether it is 36×148 at c/c 600 under TEK17 or 2×6 at 16" o.c. under the IRC. Change the plan, and the whole list regenerates without a single piece typed by hand.

What the package includes

  • Panelisation of walls, floors and roofs from the architectural plan (DXF/IFC), with panel numbering and erection sequence
  • Panel drawings: framing elevations with stud positions, openings, headers, sheathing layout and nailing pattern, in mm or imperial
  • Piece-by-piece cut list per panel: section, length, angles, grade, quantity, with off-cut optimisation per stock length
  • Material order per house: timber by section and length, sheathing, membranes, fixings, hangers and straps
  • Structural checks: EN 1995 with Norwegian or Swedish national annex (SINTEF Byggforsk details); NDS / IRC prescriptive tables / CSA O86 for North America under your engineer of record; AS 1684 span tables and AS 1720 / NZS 3604 for Australia and New Zealand

What we need from you

  • Architectural plans, sections and elevations (DXF/DWG or IFC)
  • Your panel system: stud section and spacing, plate details, sheathing, standard headers, metric or imperial
  • Stock lengths and grades you buy
  • Loads: site snow and wind, floor use, seismic category where relevant

FAQ

What consultancies ask before the first package

01 Can the cut list feed our saw or CNC?

Yes. The list is generated as structured data, so we export CSV or the format your line reads. Piece IDs on the drawings match the list one to one.

02 How accurate is the list?

To the piece. It is generated from the same geometry as the drawings, so a plan change regenerates both. The first calibration panel is free and is where we match your system’s conventions.

03 We are in Canada or the US. Do you work in imperial and to our codes?

Yes. Nominal lumber sizes, 16" and 24" spacing, 4×8 sheathing, IRC prescriptive header and span tables, NDS and CSA O86 checks. Engineered elements are documented for your engineer of record to stamp; prescriptive panels need no stamp in most jurisdictions.

04 And Australia or New Zealand?

Yes. 90×45 and 90×35 MGP10/MGP12 at 450 or 600 centres, AS 1684 span tables for the wind classification of the site, AS 1720 where the frame goes beyond the prescriptive scope, NZS 3604 for New Zealand. Metric throughout, so calibration is quick.
